I ended up going on the night hike! It was absolutely beautiful and only slightly terrifying. The full moon silhouetted the canyon in the most gorgeous way and I found myself just stopping for long minutes, staring at the beauty and enjoying the peacefulness of it all. I tried over and over again to capture it on camera but it just didn’t do it any justice.
My sister was set to land late Saturday night in Reno. I made it to Nevada sooner than I thought I would so I ended up having the day to explore the Lake Tahoe area!
The dogs and I made the best of the day by hiking the only bi-state park in the country, Van Sickle Bi-State Park! It straddles the Nevada and California border.
We hiked up a portion of Heavenly Mountain to a pretty little waterfall and met some very nice people along the way. They suggested a beautiful beach for us to go to, Sand Harbor, but it ended up not being dog friendly 😦 so we couldn’t get in. I really wanted all of us to take a plunge into the lake! But it was all worth it as the drive to the beach ended us leading down the most beautiful road with amazing views and vistas.
We made the drive all the way up Mt. Rose and even came across some snow. I’m not sure if Gonzo has ever been in the snow so I thought we should hop out and run around in it for a little bit! We looked like goofs frolicking around.
We picked Tami up and camped in another gorgeous Walmart parking lot.
